Biodiesel Magazine reports that the B20 biodiesel demonstration test for the Two Million-Mile Haul found that biodiesel performed as well as petroleum diesel. The results of the test were presented at the Great American Truck Show in Dallas this August. For the test, two groups of semi-tractors with flatbed trailers are running on matched routes to Minneapolis and Chicago. One group is running on petroleum diesel and the other group is running on B20.

The National Biodiesel Board has teamed up with Chicago-based Indigenous Energy, LLC, developers of emissions tracking systems, and Los Angeles-based States Logistics, a fleet and logistics company using clean technology, on a 6-month over-the-road pilot test to quantify States Logistics’ emissions and carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction from using biodiesel. Music and a message will be what goes from the West Coast to the East Coast as the biodiesel-powered Green Train is set to make a tour across the country this coming April.

The train will include two flatbed concert stage cards. During the six-week tour the train will stop in seven major cities where country music performer and songwriter Merle Haggard, along with other musicians, will perform. They will also hold dozens of small-town whistle stop acoustic performances. Other artists and celebrities who have pledged their support for the Green Train include Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Cher, The Dave Matthews Band, Collective Soul, Jewel, John Mayer, and The Indigo Girls.

Word is that the train is planning a European tour in 2011.
